fic, Lost: Sitting in a Diner on a Friday Afternoon (Jack, Desmond), PG
Title: Sitting in a Diner on a Friday Afternoon
Characters: Jack, Desmond
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Desmond isn't mine, Jack isn't mine, nothing is mine.
Word count: 2060
Spoilers: For pretty much all of season four up to now.
Summary: Jack and Desmond have a drink post-island.
A/N: birthday fic for [info]elise_509 who prompted me with Jack and Desmond having a drink in the happy times after island before everything falls apart, taking into account that it's a perfect world where Des got off without being included in the O6 and is with Penny (don't we all wish for it!). Well, I think I've followed it quite closely, though maybe not exactly. Anyway, I hope you like it ♥! And if you don't, there's at least an image you should find alluring;) Using for [info]philosophy_20 #20, reflection. I acknowledge that the title is practically the reworking of the first four lines of Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega, but this has nothing to do with that song whatsoever.

When Jack parks the car just outside the diner where the appointment is, he realizes he’s early. )

Fic, Lost: Your Own Personal Jesus (or five times in which Desmond was one) PG13
So, thing is, I realizes I'm this close to finish this damned table and while I'm not too enthusiast about this one, I didn't know what the hell to make out of that prompt (I mean, I tried with four different bunnies and there wasn't one that sounded right) and decided to go with it. And I'm pretty sure that the Charlie section is sort of not good. However.

Title: Your Own Personal Jesus (or five times in which Desmond was one)
Characters: Desmond, plus Locke, Sawyer, Charlie, Penny and Sayid
Rating: PG13
Disclaimer: Desmond isn't mine, Lost isn't mine and Personal Jesus belongs to Depeche Mode.
Word count: 3106
Spoilers: Up to 4x09.
Summary: Exactly what the title says.
A/N: for [info]philosophy_20 #8, faith. The last section is not based on spoilers. I just speculated on what Ben did in 4x09. The idea definitely occurred while listening to that song in a completely random moment but apart from title, concept and section titles I didn't steal that much. Well, guess I stole much to begin with but whatever. I don't even know what I think of it myself. I only hope I didn't go OOC with anyone.

The last thing he remembers is Desmond saying he was going to see him in another life, then everything started to tremble, there was a blinding white light and he had lost his senses. )

Fic, Lost: Waiting On A Sunny Day (Sayid/Nadia), R, for [info]5_loves
I suddenly was in the mood and decided it was better to go for it before it disappeared and every possible bunny for those two got killed. Did I really write relatively angst-free het? Relatively. God, I really hope I avoided a sugar invasion.

Title: Waiting On a Sunny Day
Characters/Pairing: Sayid/Nadia
Rating: sorta R. *hides*
Disclaimer: Sure, because if they were mine, I'd have killed her. Clearly they aren't.
Word count: 2175
Spoilers: Up to 4x12.
Summary: Then their lips meet halfway, like they both knew it was going to happen and nothing had to be said and Nadia’s heart skips another beat when she thinks that it’s their first kiss.
A/N: for [info]5_loves #3, first. This.. well, guess it's hasn't half of the angst it should have. Blatantly ignores what happened in episode 4x09 because for once that I have (sort of) happy people I wanted to end it on a good note. I know that good Muslim men/women shouldn't really have sex before marriage but since Sayid seemingly had it (and also quite some it seems) and Nadia looks pretty on progressive positions to me every possible religious implication was blatantly ignored. Going back to the roots, since the title is stolen from Springsteen.

Nadia is the first and only one that hears the truth from him. )

OMG Steve Earle seriously owns my life.
Forgive my blathering but it's one in the night and after one of the best concerts of my life my ideas aren't that clear.

Okay, tomorrow I'm making a serious post with setlist pics and all, but just to say, it totally was worth it to go kind of seven kms out of the city limits or whatever it was. If it wasn't the best concert ever surely it came close. Oh God. I so didn't need another music obsession, but I have it and I totally fell hard.

Dear Steve, you are ♥. Totally. If you ever come back here I'm so there. *sighs*

Fic, Lost: I'm Headed Nowhere But Downhill (Hurley, Sayid, Kate, Jack), PG13
I never should give in to plot bunnies during lectures.

Title: I'm Headed Nowhere But Downhill
Characters: Hurley, Sayid, Kate, Jack
Rating: PG13, but sort of deals with drug use. What's with me and drugs?
Disclaimer: If they were mine they wouldn't have been in the FFs situations to begin with...
Word count: 400
Spoilers: Up to 4x10.
Summary: Jack isn't the only one with Oxycodone related issues.
A/N: so I wrote more than half of this in the interval between two lectures today. Drabbles again and yeah, Steve Earle stolen title and everything again. What's with me, Steve and drabbles? Inspired by his Oxycontin Blues. And I checked, Oxycontin and Oxycodone are more or less the same thing. How would I have had the idea otherwise? ;) Massive angst alert, hell yes. Entering for [info]lostfichallenge #72: the Oceanic Six (and yes, I spared Sun all the drama) and using also for [info]10_shakespeare, “True is it that we have seen better days.”

In retrospective, Jack knows he should have taken something lighter than that. )

fic, Lost: Miracle Drug (Desmond/Charlie), R, for [info]philosophy_20
I swear I'm done writing entries for today, really.

Title: Miracle Drug
Characters/Pairing: Desmond/Charlie aka smack to the future?
Rating: R
Disclaimer: So not mine. The end of S3 wouldn't have been the end of S3 if they were.
Word count: 3601
Spoilers: Up to Flashes Before Your Eyes. Set more or less around Par Avion time.
Summary: If he only could take a trip inside Desmond’s head the way he went on another kind of trips once, he thinks. But Charlie would need a miracle drug for it and he isn’t so sure that such a thing exists.
A/N: For [info]philosophy_20 #4, inertia. So, I had been wanting to write Des/Charlie for months and it didn't want to come together. Then last day I was listening to a U2 song and magically this thing started off alone and it kind of wrote itself. I didn't even know where the hell it was going until the last section or so. Uhm, I guess angst alert? Blatantly ignores everything that happened in S4. Thanks to/for [info]falafel_musings for giving this a look and the encouragement, with this in specific and with the pairing in general ;)

In the end, it satisfies all of their needs. )

I need a Real Hume icon for realz.
Please bear with my spamming today.

So I'm reading the feminist interpretations of Hume and I was at this article written by the same author that wrote the one I have to essay about and... well, I'll just copy that.

The celebrated laments in the conclusion of book one of the Treatise might be read as the expression of a member of a subject race, the Scots, who had just lost their independence. Hume - speaking English with a despised Scottish accent, writing English with awareness of his own deaf ear for his own lapses into 'Scotticisms', hoping for an audience with a readership who did not treat him really as one of them - might also be seen to have been in a position a bit like that of a woman trying to make her way in a profession where she is suspect from the start, a 'strange uncouth monster' unlikely to win acceptance from those already securely in possession of whatever 'thrones' might exist there. Admittedly, whatever Hume thought he was doing in this celebrated 'conclusion of this book' he surely did not think he was merely expressing a literary Scot's frustrations, let alone putting himself into women's shoes or sympathizing with the bluestockings of his day. [...] Hume was, if you like, an unwitting virtual woman.

Is it wrong that I find this too amusing for words? Wasn't there anyone on my FL saying that Des is a total damsel in distress? Well, seems like my professor here agrees ;) God I'm never going to be serious when discussing it. Never.

WTF STEVE EARLE IN CONCERT HERE?!
Okay. I just discovered that Steve Earle is coming to Rome THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW. Like, why didn't I know it BEFORE? Only problem is, the place is not far. It's like, unreachable. But who cares. I mean, my latest obsession is coming here in a low-price venue and I didn't know it and it's the day after tomorrow?!! I need to find tickets like now. Like, I jumped on my seat.

God, Steve Earle. Now, here's when I wonder why the fuck I don't drive. *goes checking every possible way of reaching that place* And it's when I wonder where I'll find someone to drive me if I can't find a way. Well, guess if no one drives me I'll go there with public transportation and then slain my veins and take a taxi back, even when taxis here are something hateful.

*heads out to search for tickets NOW*

I just... thanks, oh SteveEarle.net tour list, and kudos to me for having the presence to check that out.

ETA: I got the ticket. Now I just need to figure out if I'll ever manage to come back home with the public transportation.

I had read the fist of these during the Barcelona trip and the second, the last three days. And since I want to vary my entries' content.. ;) Of course they couldn't be more different from each other.

Oh, and the Italian translations for the S3 Lost episodes are downright hilarious. What the hell does Flashes Before Your Eyes have to do with Dejà Vu? Because that's how they translated it. I don't think I'd have ever given it a minute of my attention had I watched it dubbed/in the Italian version first.

That said, I'll be back on the Hume and women thing. He wasn't even sexist. How do I love Hume? The real one, the real one.

Title: Craphole Island’s Very First Open Shirt Seminar
Characters/Pairing: Desmond/Sayid, Jack/Sawyer, Sun/Jin, Charlie/Claire, Juliet/Kate and maybe someone else that I don't remember.
Rating: PG13
Disclaimer: If Lost was mine, it'd be like this. Clearly it isn't.
Word count: around 4800
Spoilers: Up to One of Us. AU because in this one Locke went back to camp.
Summary: Desmond holds a seminar on the subject he's most proficient in.
A/N: You know the crack where you blatantly ignore every possible issue a character might have in a story? This is it. If you're searching for serious, it isn't here. The slashing hasn't got any justification whatsoever, it's there because yours truly decided it was appropriate ;) thanks to [info]lasamy  for betaing this. another two memes!
Tagged by [info]6degreesoflea. I think by now my Fl probably knows more about me than my parents do with all list random facts meme! I'll try to find something new though ;)

a. list seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself
b. tag seven people to do the same
c. do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it"

under the cut, hoping I'm not becoming boring )

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening.

1 You're Still Standing There by Steve Earle -> gah. I love it. I just love it.
2 Devil's Arcade by Bruce Springsteen -> because Bruce > everyone.
3 Postcards From the Wasteland by Bon Jovi -> it's a demo but I'd smack them. It's better than half of what was on the record it didn't make to. And I love the lyrics.
4 Dies Irae from Mozart's Requiem -> It's actually a movement from the Requiem but erm, yeah, I'm obsessed with it. Don't ask me why. It's just so good.
5 Home is Anywhere You Hang Your Head by Elvis Costello -> gah. I love it. I just love it. And I love the title.
6 Don't Look Back in Anger by Oasis -> well, I'm not that great Oasis fan but thing is, I don't like Liam and I ♥ Noel. He sings better and he writes better so I still don't get why he doesn't go solo. Anyway, I was hoping to use this as fic inspiration but isn't working, though it remained stuck in my head.
7 Sparkle and Shine by Steve Earle -> I should probably upload the whole album where this is because it's just so good. And this song makes me melt.

Whoever wants to do it, do it! ;)

In other words, military is confuuusing. I've been spending half an hour on military rankings and my head hurts. Researching for fic hurts. Kind of. But if things go as I plan it'll so be worth that. But military is confusing nonetheless. Why do they need three different kinds of privates? *shrugs*

And in other news yesterday I finally bought the DVDs for Lost Season 3. They were out here this month, figure it out. We're always so late *sighs*. And then I also bought Slam by Nick Hornby and will gladly interrupt everything I had going on to read it because Nick Hornby owns my soul, hell yes.

Hume and time travel aka things that make you seem crazy in the library.
Thing is, for my class of Moral Philosophy (for which I have to take two exams) I have to make a sort of small thesis giving the second exam. Which isn't anything too crazy since I only have to find an article in English, summarize it and do a relation about it. Now, I could do it either about Hobbes, Locke or Hume. Goes unsaid that I picked Hume (and not for entirely shallow reasons, he's my favorite of the three anyways) and don't ask me why but I ended up deciding to do it about an essay he did where he talked about women's condition. Problem is, I have to bring three or four articles to choose from and on the net I could find only one. Result: I spent five hours in the library this morning going through an index of all the English philosophical publications in various philosophy magazines from 1971 until 2002 searching for articles about Hume and women and feminism and stuff. What's the funny thing about that?

At one point I was more or less around 1988 and I find an article in the index. Titled Time Travel and Panormal. Then after staring at it for five minutes, I go to the end where there was a recap of what the article was about and I find out that it said that for Hume time travel was pure nonsense. But it was written in response to someone that said the contrary, aka that Hume said that time travel could happen.

Now, the point isn't that the guy who wrote the response was right because the real Hume would have said that it was pure idiocy. The point is that it was damn hilarious. If only it wasn't an effort of epic proportions to get the librarian to fish out those two magazines I'd totally get a kick out of reading that stuff. I mean, Hume and time travel.

And now I'm back there to actually discuss the feminism/women stuff, hoping he's alright with it. Also because after finding four articles on the matter from 1971 to 2002 I'm not too eager to start again.
